A neighbourhood for everyone who landed here from South Asia.
Desi Neighbours started in Dallas–Fort Worth in 2025 with one question — who do you call in your first week? — and became the place where Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Nepalis and Sri Lankans find rooms, roommates, rides, desi businesses, travel companions and straight answers from people who arrived a little earlier. It is free, run by a small team in Plano, and moderated by members.
How answers work
- 1
Ask once, with the city in it
Questions go into a channel — Ask Desis, Visa & Immigration, Just Landed — and are visible to everyone, signed in or not. Anonymous asking is allowed except in Just Landed.
- 2
Neighbours answer, the asker marks
The person who asked marks the answer that helped. Nothing marked after 24 hours? The most-upvoted answer with at least three upvotes shows as the top answer.
- 3
Experts are labelled, never promoted
Verified attorneys, doctors and CPAs carry a badge and rank first in their channel. Nobody can pay for placement; ads and referral codes are removed.
Moderation and anonymity
Every channel has at least three moderators who live in the metro; News & Updates is mod-curated.
Anonymous posts show an alias (“Anonymous Owl”) and never link to a profile; Confessions is always anonymous, Just Landed never is.
Pending posts are not public; removed posts return 410 and are dropped from search within a day.
Report a post from any page without an account. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours.
